Vision


The Eritrean Community Cultural & Civic Center, commonly referred to as ECC Oakland, aspires to foster a vibrant Eritrean diaspora community where every individual is empowered and poised to make meaningful contributions towards a more just, prosperous, and harmonious global society.

Mission Statement:

ECC Oakland is dedicated to creating a secure haven for Eritreans, particularly those facing significant disadvantages, with the aim of promoting well-being and facilitating the pursuit of self-sufficiency, health, and self-determination in the present and for generations to come.

In response to the multifaceted and evolving needs of the Eritrean community, our diverse array of programs is designed to enhance physical, mental, social, cultural, and economic well-being. Our holistic approach encompasses the following key elements:

  1. Commemorating Eritrean history and culture as sources of pride and as a strong foundation upon which to build.
  2. Offering targeted, accessible, and responsive learning opportunities and services that nurture confidence, knowledge, and essential skills.
  3. Strengthening community engagement to foster increased partnerships and collaboration.
  4. Promoting civic engagement and grassroots organizing to combat injustice.
  5. Supporting sustainable development initiatives within Eritrea.
